The Underground
Situated discreetly in the basement of the Museum, The Underground is a Prohibition history exhibition, featuring a working moonshine distillery and speakeasy, as well as numerous exhibits and artifacts from the era. While enjoying tempting 1920s-inspired cocktails surrounded by authentic Art Deco design motifs, guests can ponder the time when consuming alcohol was not only a criminal act, but also bred secret watering holes–some of which became the most glamorous places to be.

Distillery Tours
Date: Weekdays on the hour at 12, 1, 2 and 4 p.m.; weekdays from 12 to 5 p.m.
Cost: $12
Description: During these, which are available as an enhanced experience with the purchase of a deluxe or premier pass and include a sampling of a variety of distilled spirits, participants receive an in-depth explanation of the distillery equipment and distillation process and learn about Prohibition. In addition to learning about the historical origin of Prohibition and the drinking culture that existed before the 1920s, guests have the chance to take part in a spirit-tasting experience of house-distilled moonshine, vodka and the Jamaica ginger infusion. The Distillery Tours are designed to encourage visitors to develop an appreciation for the flavor of moonshine—especially since The Underground’s moonshine is as authentic as it can safely get. It is made in-house with 100 percent corn and bottled at 50 percent ABV. In addition, all visitors to the Museum may purchase souvenir bottles of Museum spirits in the speakeasy during these hours.

The Crime Lab Experience
The Crime Lab offers guests a hands-on, interactive exploration of five different forensic science topics. Guests explore the Crime Lab during the 25-minute facilitated experience, which is guided by a Museum educator and features original multimedia with insights from forensic science experts. While spending time at each station, guests will acquire a foundational understanding of scientific techniques used to conduct death investigation, DNA analysis, fingerprint analysis, crime scene investigation and firearms examination.

Use of Force Training Experience
One of two new experiential spaces that explore law enforcement methods of identifying, apprehending, and prosecuting criminals, the Use of Force Training Experience places guests in the shoes of law enforcement officers. Guests will engage in an intensive training session using both digital and live role playing scenarios that demonstrate the speed and complexity of use of force decisions. Related exhibits examine an array of factors that influence law enforcement responses to real or perceived threats, with a particular focus on the use of deadly force.
