Tiger Woods Is Back On Top After Winning The Masters for 5th Time

Tiger has won The Masters for the first time in 14 years.

Tiger Woods has done what many thought he would never do again in his career: win another major. Well, he has done it and did it in convincing fashion. Tiger won with a final score of 13-under, one shot clear of Brooks Koepka.

I'm speechless. I don't really know how to write what I think right now, because although I always had a feeling Tiger Woods would win a major again, I didn't know if it would actually happen. I honestly don't think Tiger knew what was going to happen coming into today.

The field was throwing everything they could at Tiger. He didn't have an easy win by any means. Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffele, Dustin Johnson, and more were chasing him down. But smooth, steady, and confident was the name of the game for Tiger.

The back nine on Sunday at the Masters can be one of the best moments of the year for sports. The 2019 edition of the tournament did not fail to deliver! ALL the major players were involved in the excitement.

There was a lot to be excited about today because there was a lot of drama, a lot of excitement, and a lot of Tiger Woods at the top of the leaderboard. Not to mention, San Diego State product Xander Schauffele was at the top of the leaderboard all day.

Coming into the day, I didn't think there was any way Italy's Francesco Molinari would falter. He has looked so good in major tournaments in the last year and showed no signs of nerves until the infamous 12th hole at Amen Corner.

It's funny. I cheer for these guys to mess up and hit bad shots. Then when it happens I feel bad for them. I couldn't help but think about Jordan Spieth and his epic collapse on the same hole just three years ago. Molinari hit it in the water and double bogeyed, which was the beginning of the end.

After that double, you could feel the magic in the air. Could it really be happening again? It was, and it was a big deal.

Twitter was excited, patrons at Augusta were excited, everyone I knew was excited. I don't know if there is another athlete in sports that can move the needle like Tiger.

There was something different about this win for me. Tiger was playing smart, logical golf. Realizing when he needed to push it and go for pins, and when he needed to play it safe and hit the smart shot.

He saw Molinari hit the water on 12, and decided to go safe and hit it into the middle of the green and collect his par. Then on 15, he hit another safe shot to the middle of the green, with Molinari in trouble. Molinari would later clip a tree on the hole and lose one in the water.

I think the turning point for Tiger was 16. At that moment, I thought that Tiger would be nervous because this was a BIG moment for him. Instead, he decided to nearly get a hole in one and leave his shot to just a few feet. The rest of the way in, it was smart and steady.

The path back to the top for Tiger has been long and arduous. No experts, no fans, not many people believed Tiger could win a major again. Tiger didn't even know if he would play competitive golf again just a few years ago.

Good for Tiger Woods and GREAT for golf. Tiger Woods is a major champion once again.
