Stanford is stronger and more physical than USC

I sat down and watched the USC Stanford game at Mike's BBQ in Escondido and the best thing about the evening for me were the grilled chicken wings.  Watching the Trojans get manhandled yet again by the Cardinal is now the norm and no longer the excpetion.  What Jim Harbaugh started and David Shaw has continued should be appualded.  Finding kids who can get into Stanford is one thing, finding players that are that physical that can get into Stanford is another.  Shaw has the best of the best in the classroom and guys who can stand toe to toe with anyone in the Pac12.  It used to be the Cardinal were a nice team that had sojme standouts everynow and then like John Elway or John Lynch, but now that have athletes all over the feild.

For USC they will miss Sam Darnold even more than anyone could imagine.  Football fans always think easy to go next man up, but asking a true freshman to walk in and take over is a herculean feat.  USC has players, but it's going to take a while for anyone to fill Darnold's shoes, so Clay Helton's bunch needs to be patient with the young man.  For Trojan's fans, Rose Bowl tickets might not be in the cards this year, and you might have to make reservations for the Vegas Bowl when it's said and done.

UCLA needs more than Chip's playbook

UCLA fans were excited to see Chip Kelly back in the PAC12.  I am not sure if they relized how long it take the Bruins to get back on top, but it might take a tad bit longer because Kelly the to find the horses to run the type of offense he desires.  He will take some of the pages out of his playbook for now, to compete, but I think the Bruins will need so Juco help and a few recruiting classes before we see what Chip Kelly will be able to acomplish in Westwood.

Today we are all Wildcats

Imagine getting beat year after year for 3 decades.  That's what the Kentucky Wildcats suffered for 32 staright years at the hands of the Florida Gators.  Saturday night the Cats beat the Gators at The Swamp and the paryy began. I bet all their more than a few tears shed that night.  Congrats Mark Stoops and the Wildcats.

Random thoughts...

Just like USC, Dan Sileo's team is in need of serious help the QB position.  Malik Rozier and the Cans beat Savanah State 77-0, but for a team that is looking for an ACC championship, they will need some big-time growth to get past Va Tech which looks better than expected.

ND had a big win a week ago over Michigan but came out flat vs Ball State.  Irish get an incomplete in my book, it was an emotional win over the Wolverines, but your the Fighting Irish for gosh sakes you need a better showing of yourself vs Ball State.
