Gonzalez Shuts Down Padres for Second Time as Rockies Beat Padres 6-1

The Padres move to 5-3 after Game 8 of the simulated season.

Chi Chi Gonazalez combined with a pair of relievers on a seven-hitter, as the you right-hander recorded his second victory over San Diego in this young season, beating the Padres, 6-1, on Friday night at Coors Field.

The Padres (5-3) had their three-game winning streak snapped in their first road game of the season. San Diego managed only one extra-base hit, a double by Josh Naylor that led to the Padres' run in the third inning. Catcher Francisco Mejia went 0-3 with a walk, snapping his string of having hit a home run in four consecutive games. 

Colorado jumped on a Dinelson Lamet (1-) in the first inning. David Dahl hit a two-out double to score Raimel Tapia, who had reached on a fielder's choice. Then Trevor Story followed with his third home run of the season, a two-run shot that made it 3-0. 

The Rockies took advantage of a Greg Garcia error to score three unearned runs in the fourth. Gonzalez had an RBI single during the rally, as did Tapia. Garcia was playing shortstop, having moved over from second base, after starter Fernando Tatis Jr was forced to leave the game in the third having suffered an undisclosed injury.
