Freddie Freeman and Dansby Swanson had three hits apiece and drove in a combined five runs as the Atlanta Braves beat the San Diego Padres, 8-1, Tuesday night. It was Atlanta’s first victory over San Diego in five tries this season.

Mike Soroka pitched eight strong innings to pick up the win, allowing only Fernando Tatis’ third home run of the season, a solo shot in the third inning that gave the Padres (6-6) an early 1-0 lead. A Tatis error in the bottom of the second led to a pair of Atlanta runs, one of which scored on an RBI double by Ozzie Albies and another that came home on Freeman’s first of three RBI singles.

Chris Paddack took the loss for San Diego, despite allowing just two earned runs in 5.1 innings of work. Freeman touched him for a second RBI single in the third to make it 3-1, then a Swanson double set up another Atlanta run off Paddack in the sixth.

Atlanta put the game away with two-run rallies in both the seventh and eighth. Swanson had an RBI in each inning, and Freeman notched his third RBI hit of the game in the eighth.
