Pulling For Greg Garcia to make the Padres 25 Man Roster

Former Valhalla High School product Greg Garcia is fighting for a backup infield spot with the Padres and I am pulling for him. I played against Greg’s father, Dave Garcia Jr., growing up here in San Diego, and Greg’s grandfather Dave Sr. was a baseball fixture in San Diego for many years. Dave Sr. spent hours with me in the Qualcomm Stadium press box talking baseball and teaching me a lot about the game. He was a brilliant baseball man having managed the Cleveland Indians and California Angels. Dave Sr. was an incredible man and I can’t begin to tell you how much respect I had for him.
