It is reported by The San Diego Union Tribune's Kevin Acee that Fernando Tatis Jr. has in fact made the Opening Day roster for the San Diego Padres. According to Acee, the Padres believe Tatis Jr. is ready and makes them the best possible team.

Going into Spring Training Tatis was facing the ever so controversial, "Do you keep Tatis Jr. down in order to have an additional year of control before free agency?" The Padres have elected to forfeit an additional year of control to have Tatis Jr. start with the club in 2019.

Fernando Tatis Jr. has done more than enough to not only make the Opening Day roster but to also start at shortstop for the Padres on March 28th. An unbelievable talent that just continued to produce during Spring Training. He finished Spring Training hitting .265, with a .345 on-base percentage and slugged .490. He also finished with 2 home runs, but the stats are nothing compared to what he can accomplish on the field athletically.

From fielding a routine ground-ball to advancing first to third he makes the ordinary plays look spectacular and not in the show-boating bad way, he is just that athletic.

This is big news for Padres fans, and Opening Day will be special seeing Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado on the left side of the infield. Not to take anything from the two Gold Glovers on the right side of the infield in Ian Kinsler and Eric Hosmer. Let that sink in, three of the four infielders are Gold Glove winners and then there is the most athletic of the group in Fernando Tatis Jr.

There is so much to be excited for Padres fans and the future starts Thursday!
