While everyone was enjoying a relaxing Labor Day, the San Diego Padres were swinging hot bats.

The San Diego Padres were able to down the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday night 6-2 thanks to a couple home runs by Franmil Reyes.

After the Diamondbacks put up a run in the bottom half of the first inning, the Padres added three to their side of the line score off a three run home run by Franmil Reyes.

Later in the fourth inning the Padres added another run, again off the bat of another Reyes home run, this time a solo shot.

In the eighth inning, San Diego added two more insurance runs off a two RBI single by Austin Hedges.

Arizona added a run in the eighth inning off a Paul Goldschmidt double, but that would be all for the Diamondbacks.

Bryan Mitchell started his first game on the mound for the Padres since June 5th and was excellent. After a less than stellar first inning, Mitchell was able to pitch four innings of shutout baseball. Mitchell finished the day allowing only one run, on two hits, walking three and striking out two over five innings pitched.

The Padres look to take the quick two game series, tomorrow against the Diamondbacks. Pregame show is at 5:40pm with first pitch coming at 6:40pm on 97.3 The Fan.
