The San Diego Padres were unable to hang on to an early lead on Sunday afternoon, as the Colorado Rockies were able to put three across in the seventh inning and earn a 7-3 win.

After the Rockies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Padres quickly answered with two runs of their own. With the bases loaded and two outs, Franmil Reyes ripped a line drive single to center field that scored Freddy Galvis and Luis Urias. With the single, Franmil extended his hitting streak to eight games which is a career high for the rookie.

Colorado would get another run in the fourth inning on a David Dahl sacrifice fly, that scored Nolan Arenado. The Padres however would answer again in the bottom half of the inning to maintain a one run lead, as A.J. Ellis singled to right field to score Manuel Margot. Ellis finished the game with another multi-hit performance, which is his third in his last four starts. Ellis owns a .398 On-Base percentage and his .291 average is his highest in a season in his career.

In the seventh inning the Colorado Rockies erupted and blew the game open. After a single off the bat of Ian Desmond and a Gerardo Parra walk, the Padres made a pitching change bringing in Trey Wingenter for starter Jacob Nix. With Chris Iannetta batting, Ian Desmond stole third and Gerardo Parra stole second. Iannetta would then double to right field scoring both Parra and Desmond. Later in the inning Charlie Blackmon singled to right field, scoring Iannetta.

David Dahl would then get an insurance run for Colorado with a solo home run in the eighth inning.

Padres look to bounce back tomorrow in Arizona as they take on the Diamondbacks. First pitch at 5:10pm with the Pregame show starting at 4:10pm on 97.3 The Fan!
