The MLB All-Star break festivities came to a close last night as the American League defeated the National League in the 10th inning of the MLB All-Star Game.

Fans reacted to the game via twitter and these are some tweets that stood out.

Max Scherzer was given the start for the National League in front of his home crowd. For the people who may not have known what Scherzer is about, they learned very quickly.

“Mad Max” met his match in the top of the second inning when Aaron Judge unleashed a home run on a 95 mph fastball.

The former MVP, Mike Trout, wanted to get in on the action and delivered a solo home run of his own in the third inning. This shot gave the American League a 2-0 lead.

There was a nice moment in the bottom of the third when the Cubs’ catcher, Wilson Contreras, hit a line drive over the fence.

Contreras has endured a long journey to get to the MLB and when he found out he was selected to his first all-star game, he was overcome with emotion.

During the game, it was rumored that Manny Machado would be traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Twitter had a field day with that information.

Many fans and viewers commented on the live in-game interviews that the broadcast was able to conduct. Fans seemed to appreciate this intimate perspective on what players are thinking during the game.

After a few back and forth innings that included some quality at-bats from Jean Segura, it was the Astros’ all-stars that would take the game into their own hands.

The American League ended up winning 8-6 after 10 innings of baseball. The 8-6 victory extends the American League’s streak against the National League to six straight games.

The MLB season continues tomorrow with the Cubs and the Cardinals.
